Animal inside,

Makoto sighed and layed on the grass in the park just staring at the sky. The brotherhood wasn't the most accepting of organizations, and he had already fought with another member. Shaking his head he sat up and looked around. The area was almost co poetry empty except for a few students.

Shadow smiled as she walked through the park, noticing someone she recognized from the Brotherhood. "Hey, you okay?" she asked, noticing how he seemed a bit depress. "Need someone to talk to?"

Makoto looked over. He recognized the girl as the one that had randomly kissed him. "Oh hi." he said. "Not really, people here aren't really accepting of newcomers, mutant or not."

"You get used to it. Brotherhood isn't the best but they're okay," Shadow replied, sitting down beside him. "Sorry about kissing you. I was trying to do something to calm you down and no matter who it was, that's how we would get this neighbor of mine to calm down and do what we needed him to."

Makoto shrugged. "It didn't really phase me at all, weirder things have happened." He said a little flatly. "Besides, you didn't kiss me, you kissed "him".

"'Him'?" Shadow asked. "Split personality? Me too." It was good to know someone knew what it was like. "Not easy to control, is it?" She knew the answer would probably be that it isn't. Wolverette was hard enough. At least his probably had never resorted to masochism for fun.

Makoto shook his head. "'he' is the reason I'm hear.....he killed my father and ousted me as a mutant....he takes joy out of the suffering he inflicts, and he doesn't care about anyone....even those I care about he hurts....and I have no control over him."

"I know how you feel, I nearly killed my brother once when mine showed up," Shadow said, trying to calm him down. "Mine, I have a little control over, but I'm forced to see and hear it all through the entire thing. She loves bloodshed, and has even resorted to masochism if I can get enough control to move her away from people."

Makoto nodded as she spoke. "It's horrible isn't it....to have this....thing inside of you." He said looking at his hands. "He is the reason I despise myself, Nomatter what doctors say he is still me.....so there is a part of me like that, and that is what scares me the most. Knowing that I am him."

"Don't hate yourself," Shadow suggested, her eyes darkening. "It's not you, it's something you have to deal with. Think about it like one of your demons. We all have them." She nervously bit her lip, looking down. "Try staying calm though. It's not always a guarantee, but it helps."

Makoto growled slightly. "It is me, it is part of my mind. He is all the things that are wrong with me. No matter what I do I am still as horrible as he is." Makoto looked away from her. "I can't be naive like you. I can't just run away from something that I'd wrong with me.

"Run away from it?!" Shadow snarled, putting a hand on her hip. "I deal with it a lot of the time. I can't run from it. I just learn to suppress it." She shook her head, her eyes still growing darker. "If Wolverette were something I could get rid of, I would've destroyed her years ago."

Makoto looked at her and growled. "You can't destroy her because she is you. That's what you don't understand. You can blame people for hurting you and creating that person but the bottom line is it is still you!! Every horrible thing that wolverette has done is your doing. Just like my fathers death was mine. Even if we say they are not us they are still part of our minds and no amount of denial can change that.

Shadow growled, unsheathing her claws and slashing at his chest as the Wolverette took over. "Different. Not her! Never!" She smirked, manifesting a small fire around him as she stood, baring her teeth.

Makoto growled as his claws manifested themselves. "I will not fight you Shadow." He said flatly. "I will not be responsible for the death of anyone else." He waved the flames aside and began to walk away from the pisse off girl.

"Kill me? Not happen!" Shadow growled, charging him and slicing at his arm. "Fight, coward!" She growled, smiling slightly at his reluctance. She forced her claws back before throwing a ball of fire at his face as she started backing away.

Makoto just grabbed the fireball and stared at her, the wound from the claws healing. "I will not fight you. And nothing you can say will change that. I am not a murderer. "

"Murderer, not, him yes!" Wolverette growled, standing back. Waiting for his own split to take over. It was him she wanted to fight. "I not her, you not him." She glared, focusing a strong amount of her fire towards his feet, trying to force him to attack.

Makoto growled and stood there gathering energy. He laughed a little. "You can't beat me, I am better than you with your own power."

"Say to yourself," Wolverette growled, charging and attempting to stab Makoto's stomach. "No!" Shadow screamed, hoping to break through. Wolverette, as retaliation to her true self, cut at her arm, making Shadow scream mentally.

Makoto shot the fire he had been concentrating into the lake and ran over and slammed the blunt side of his claws into her head as hard as he could in order to knock her out.

Wolverette growled, momentarily lost. "Help me!" Shadow yelled through, unable to truly break through yet. "Shut up," Wolverette growled to her true self. She shook her head, vision bluring slightly before she charged again, slashing into the side of his knee, growling unhappily.

Makoto just blocked the swipe with his claws. "Useless. You need to calm down."

I can't until she does!, Shadow tried, only to find she didn't even have enough control over her body to speak. Wolverette though, finally decided to listen. "Her guilty for this later. Burnt ground. Give her back." she finally agreed, releasing her control with a deadly smile. Shadow blushed slightly, looking at Makoto as she fell to the ground, ashamed of herself. "No."

Makoto reached out and caught Shadow as she fell. "Are you ok?" He asked a little worried. He helped her stand and brushed himself off. "I guess i git carried away."
