Another first look at the Institute

Jake tapped the sign on the wall that read 'Xavier Institute for the Gifted.' (or something like that)
"Well here we are." He said, looking up at the mansion. It always looked so impressive, especially from the front gate. It made him a bit proud to live there. It almost looked peaceful. That may be because from the street you couldn't see the people who lived inside.

Lynx stared at the school and felt the urge to turn around, but she managed to stay where she was. After all, she was the one who had been seeking it out. It wasn't like they were going to expect her to attend school or anything, she was just here for the training.

(Eh, same difference. One word away.)

Jake glanced back at Lynx.
"You going to come in?" He asked, noticing a slight hesitation.

"Waiting on you." Lynx wasn't sure if there was some sort of code that had to be used or what lay beyond the gate, but she was going to wait until he had gone first to make sure.

(I sure hope there isn't a code- I don't know it! >.<)

Jake pushed open the gate and started to head inside. The grass and trees out here were a good place to relax. It also gave him a good idea who was coming and going. Though if the alarm was on...
"Don't walk in the grass." Jake warned. "The security system might be on."

"Ok." Exactly why I don't go first, Lynx thought to herself. She followed Jake along the path, aweing inwardly at what she was seeing. "So this is where you live?

"Yup. Home sweet home." Jake said with a chuckle. He wondered if anyone else was home. There were some who he'd prefer for a first encounter over others, but anyone would be better than being alone.

Lynx walked up the stairs and looked into the building. She couldn't see anyone else anywhere. "Is it normally this vacant?" she asked. Whether or not it was, she didn't like the feeling of walking into a empty place she had never been in before, and especially with a strange guy she just met while shopping who claimed to be a Mutant.

"No, actually." He said, frowning. He walked into the hallway and looked around. He tilted his head a bit, trying to listen. His mouth was slightly open to try and get a scent, but a tiger's smell wasn't very good.
"Well, there could be three possibilities to explain this." Jake started slowly. "One: We're just incredibly unlucky and caught the only moment where everyone is busy at the same time; Two: They're all at a party and were jerks and didn't tell me; or three: something is terribly wrong." He assessed.

(You know, if we really wanted to- we can start an entire plot off of that just because no one is online.)

(like what kind of plot?)

"Interesting..." Lynx wasn't sure she was liking the fact that all Mutants in a mansion this size had suddenly vanished. She really wished everyone was just busy, and that nothing was wrong, but that wasn't the feeling she was getting.

(I don't know, like elaborate on the whole 'something bad has happened'. Normally that screams "plot device".... so in other words, others better post or else something terrible will have happened to them *evil laughter*)

"Yah. Weird." Jake said, frowning. He shook his head. "Well, anyway- you're a mutant too, right?" He asked, changing the subject. He decided to go with the 'We're just really unlucky answer.' His luck was renown for putting him into dangerous or akweird situations. "What can you do?"

Still looking around, Lynx said, "Let's just say technology and I have a certain bond, and I 'gathered' that you knew a bit about the school before you told me." She brushed her hand agross the wall, feeling a tingling sensation as she read through it. "Quite an advanced system you've got here." It didn't take her long to start thinking about the harddrive she had bought and the plans for it. There was time for that later. "So what can you do?"

Jake cocked his head as she told him. She didn't like saying things out right, did she? Jake rolled his shoulders as she asked him.
"Well, I'm a shape-shifter." He said with a grin. He liked his power, it had a certain cool factor if nothing else. "Any feline or a mix of them." He added, knowing that it didn't sound quite as cool when he explained it more. "Wanna see?"

Lynx turned and smiled. "Felines huh? Sure, let me see."

Jake thought for a moment, he couldn't decide which one to do. He dropped to a snow leopard. Not the biggest cat, but certainly one of the fluffiest and prettiest. Jake struggeled to get out of his jacket.
"Gah- forgot to take it off!" Serves me right for trying to showing off.... He shuffled his paws, trying to get his forepaws out of the sleeves.

Lynx couldn't help but laugh. "Ok, ok, let me help you." She walked over and precede to lift his paw and remove the jacket. Laying it nicely on the ground, she looked back at Jake the cat. "There ya go, free to roam."

Jake shook himself and licked his shoulder, slightly embarrassed.
"Thanks... Loose clothes don't change...." He said sheepishly. He flicked his tail and sniffed the air, his mouth slightly open. "Geeze, when is someone getting back?" He muttered.

Lynx smiled and sat back, beginning to look around the building once more. "The computer said it would check around and see if they can find anyone else in the house." Hearing herself say that aloud, she frowned and looked towards the ceiling, pretending to be interested in the chandelier. Damn, great job Lynx. Way to start speaking like a freak again. Although this was supposed to be a place of safety, she still had been hoping to keep her odd ability under wraps for a bit longer.

Jake tilted his head. "Said as in Spoke?" He asked, genuinely curious. He hadn't seen her check any device, so that was a logical conclusion. And by her embarrassed reaction, that was probably so. "You can talk to computers?!" His tail waved excitedly. He wondered what a computer would say. If it was his... probably words that shouldn't be repeated. In many different languages.

"Uh, yeah. I talk to computers." Lynx got up and started to walk to the other side of the room. She walked over to the stairs and look up, trying to listen for anybody. She wasn't happy with herself. For so long she had managed to keep her powers under wrap, keeping her freakiness covered from others, and in one day she managed to screw it all up. Hopefully it wouldn't be too big of a deal to these Mutants.

"That's cool! I've never heard of anything like that!" Jake exclaimed, meaning every word. He frowned as he noticed a shift in her mood. He jumped back to human and ran after her, grabbing his jacket. Jake tossed it over his shoulder as he caught up with her. "Sorry if I embarrassed you." His metal arm clacked as Jake motioned with it. "I can get a bit over-excited."

Shrugging, Lynx lift the corners of her mouth. "It's not necessarily embarassment. I've just always had problems with people thinking I'm insane, so I'm not one for sharing." She started to walk up the stairs, craning her neck slightly.
