Lunch time [open]

Jean walked into the cafeteria with her backpack slung over her shoulder and a tired look on her face. With a yawn she headed over to the food line and grabbed a tray. She got a sandwich and some fruit for her lunch along with a milk carton. She walked over to the usual table she sits at and sat down

Seconds after the lunch bell, Wes trudged down the stairs, fallowing behind the large crowd of noisy kids on their way to fill their stomachs. Once in the cafeteria, she went to stand in one of the lines, trying her best to tune out all the dirty loudmouths in the building. She grabbed some food, not really knowing what it was exactly, and a carton of cheap so-called milk. Once out of the line, she scanned the tables half a second, and went to go sit by Jean.

"Hey Wes." Jean looked at the girl who had sat next to her. "How's your day been so far?" She took a bite out of her sandwich and looked around the cafeteria waiting on a reply.

"Hey," Wes said, greeting her, "Today's been...good I guess..." She added, not sure how to describe school. "Nothing exciting yet, sadly." She had a quick thought about doing something to spice up the day - maybe a nice common explosion in the chemestry lab - but she quickly shook that out of her head, "And your day?"

Jake took an angry bite out of his roll as he sat down by Jean and Wes.
"I hate getting colds..." He growled, tearing apart the roll. "But I ran out of skip days."

"My day was just like any other." Jean watched as Jake sat down with them. "Hey Jakey-boy"

“Sounds boring…” Wes looked up at Jake when he sat down, jerking her chin up in a greeting, “How’d you manage to waste them all?,” Right after she spoke it, she realized what she’d just said, “Er… you know what I mean…”
She subconsciously remembered the last time she’d gotten a cold. It hadn’t turned out very well…

"They're called 'skip' days, aren't they? I figure it'd be fairly obvious..." Jake said with a shrug. "But I'm now regretting that last break I took... I'm going to have to be on my toes all day....." Jake complained.

"We get like, what, nine skip days and you used all of them?" She then added in a slightly lower voice, "Either way, why don't you just forge a doctor's note or something?"

"I'm not good at stuff like th-Wait... there's only nine?" Jake asked in alarm.

"....don't tell me you took more than that...." Jean looked at him with those eyes like tell me the truth

"Maybe a few..." Jake said with a sheepish grin. "But I've kept up with all my work!"

Wes rolled her eyes, "I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter. You better have been doing something important..."

Jean, took another bit of her sandwhich. "Knowing Jake," She lowered her voice, "He was probably playing around in half form"

"Not *every* time..." Jake corrected. He paused. "Just, you know... most of the time..."
He said rubbing his neck.

Damian walked in all high an mighty sitting at a table by himself ...

Jake gave a broad yawn.
"What does it matter anyway. There's been nothing intresting happening lately, in or out of school. Why can't we live in like a comic book world or something where something interesting is *always* happening..."

(Or so I thought...)

"It matters because we are supposed to be getting an education to live the rest of our lives. And jake..... there *is* something interesting always happening you just think of it as such." Jean smiled and finished off her sandwich.

Jake rolled his eyes.
"I'm plenty educated- I for one, don't need to be imprisoned just to learn things. And yes. There is something interesting- *somewhere else*."

"You aren't imprisoned..... and besides the world doesn't recognize that you know anything without a diploma." Jean looked at him before polishing off her juice.

Jake just rolled his eyes and sipped his drink.

Jean stood up gathering her trash. "Well i had best get going. I've got free period next and i am chilling in the library but i need to get there and get my corner before anyone else does. You walking home or catching a ride with someone?"

"I'm walking." Jake answered. "Does the body good." He said, taking another sip.

"Just remember to go straight home, we have a lessons today" Jean said lessons implying danger room session.

"Great- finally! Something to do!" Jake said excitedly. "Maybe I could try out a new form today."
