| Well considering that your character is a canon I can't see how hard finding a picture could be.
As for the use of a play-by, I'm not personally opposed to it if you want, but I can't see removing the cartoon/anime pictures. One reason would be the people playing canons here should really be using a picture of their character from the show, a second would be some people would be required to find odd pictures of real people - such as myself for example, I don't see a search for a play-by with white hair and yellow eyes being very easy. | |

| I dont think it would be too hard to combine the Canons with OC's "play-by/Celebrity Claim" during rp, you just gotta have a good imagination :) which is sort of like a "requirement", I guess, for any RP, imagination and the ability to write. ^_^
I suppose this is the only way I can describe it: if anyone has ever daydreamed about or imagined themselves coming face to face with a cartoon character, your mind doesnt really make the distinction between the reality or "metaphysics" of yourself compared to the character. It just kind of accepts them the way they are, together. Im not sure if that makes sense, lmao, but the only way I can sort of describe the Canons and OC's "real" look coming together is by looking at it through Metaphysics. O.o | |

| I think I know kind of what you're trying to get at, but I don't think Metaphysics properly applies to the problem in order to give us a solution. (at least not in the capacity described) My take on where you were headed with your comment: Sorry, its kinda long..... I stuck with the Philosophy approach you used mentioning Metaphysics... but it went on kinda long. I'm too used to writing 10+ page philosophy essays XD- Spoiler:
We are playing characters in a world that lies outside of our own existence, and is not ruled by the same laws of nature. Much like Plato's world of the forms, inside is contained the essence/nature of each character we play, each action we do with those characters, and the entire setting of this world (essence here referring to an items "being" in its most perfect form). Now, through reading/ rping, we can interact with this perfect world, and can attempt to view the perfect forms of these characters/actions/settings that we are involved in.
The problem here is that this world of the Forms is inaccessible by us, and the essence held within cannot be transferred to our world. The words on the page represent the world of the forms: perfect, built exactly the way the writer imagines it. The problem here is that the next person who reads it, may imagine a different image in his head. The main differentiation our RP world has from the world of the forms, is that it is not shared universally by all, but based on subjective interpretation.
Character images (avatars) are then, nothing more than an attempt to reconcile the subjectivity of our RP world, in order to attain some regularity in each reader, so that when one reader pictures "Layla", the image will contain the essence of this character, and thereby match up with the next reader's interpretation.
The avatar is not the essence of a character, or a representation of them in their most perfect form, but instead is our best attempt to represent that characters essence. So then, it is not a question of one character looking "real" while the other looks "cartoon", as inside our RP world, these terms carry no hold, and it is instead our words which give life and form to the character. The image is just our imperfect representation of our character, as can be achieved in the real world.

| lol, I think you explained it better than me, I only took Intro to Philosophy, XD but yeah, I wouldnt think there'd be any problem using a combination of cartoons and pics of real people to represent our characters. Its just hard for me to explain in words. | |

| I'm not going to take offense to using a real life persona for your character, I was just making the counterpoint that your character is not hard to find a picture of. My wording might have implied that, it was just making a solid counter point without including "But" or "Unless you really want to" I was going to clear this up when I rewrite out the site rules. | |

| Personally I hate play bys, but it's your choice if you want to have a boring real life character. Anime/cartoons are more magical and fun, plus people with my abstract characters with things such as crazy hair colors or ears/tails might be hard to find.
So, pretty much forced play bys would suck for this site~ | |
